Encompassing a wide 63.4 degree angle of view the new lens consists of 14 elements in nine groups, among them one aspherical, one ED and four UHR glass elements. Fifteen diaphragm blades produce complex sunstars at the minimum aperture of f/16, while the wide f/0.95 maximum aperture provides potential for differential focusing with shots at f/0.95 producing smooth and attractive bokeh. Internal focusing maximises the optical performance in both infinity focus and minimum focusing distance of 50 cm and gives the lens the stability need for video shooting. The aperture ring click switch mechanism enables photographers and videographers to choose between clicked and de-clicked settings. The low focus breathing and long focus throw are ideal for narrative filming and selective focus control. Accurate manual focusing is possible, thanks to the 300-degree focus thread.
