Covering a 210-degree angle of view, the new Laowa 4mm f/2.8 fisheye lens is designed for mirrorless cameras with APS-C or M4/3 sized sensors, with which it will create an extremely distorted circular fisheye perspective. The recorded field of view is greater than the eye can encompass. Two images taken with this lens can be combined to create a full 360-degree panorama, making this lens ideal for VR photography, shooting virtual tours, skateboard action and spherical panoramas. The fast f/2.8 maximum aperture makes it suitable for astrophotography as well as all kinds of low-light shooting. This lens will also focus to within 8 cm from the sensor for close-ups with extreme distortion.

Weighing only 135 grams, it can be mounted on a drone for ‘God’s vision’ shots and the circular frame can be corrected in post-capture processing to produce a rectangular image. The depth of field produced by this lens is great enough to require no focusing when the focus is set at infinity and the aperture at f/5.6. The lens is currently available from authorised resellers and on Venus Optics official website. It is ready to ship now.
