This is the first version of the lens with a Pentax K mount but the second for the Canon EF mount. The previous Canon EF version for this lens provided automatic aperture control via the camera. The new version provides a stepless aperture ring to cater for videographers.
The first 100mm lens to provide twice life-size magnification, the Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO has been extremely popular among macro photographers. The clickless aperture ring on the new EF mount version allows videographers to adjust the aperture smoothly and quietly. In addition, 13 aperture blades provide soft and attractive bokeh. The Pentax-K mount version is assembled with the automatic aperture coupling lever, which allows aperture control via the camera body. Users can either use the manual aperture ring or set the focusing ring at the “A” symbol and adjust the aperture via the camera. Click here for full details of this lens.
The lens is currently available to order from authorised resellers and through th Venus Optics official website. The ex-tax retail price of both Canon EF mount and Pentax K mount is US$449. Pricing is likely to vary in different countries.
