The latest camera shipment statistics from the Camera & Imaging Products Association of Japan (CIPA) show a slight overall increase for the first five months of 2023.

The growth is almost entirely driven by shipments of interchangeable-lens cameras as fixed-lens cameras, which have remained a relatively small and low-profit sector for the past two years, have remained consistently low. The graphs for these two sectors are reproduced below.
