The RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z marks a significant milestone in lens technology for Canon, being designed to include attributes from broadcast, cinema and standard RF lenses. It is the first RF zoom lens to combine a dedicated iris/aperture control ring and Servo functionality via optional power zoom adapters. Its optical design contains 23 elements in 18 groups and includes four UD and three aspherical elements. It also comes with Canon’s Super Spectra Coating, Air Sphere Coating and a fluorine coating on the front element to repel moisture and dust. Eleven diaphragm blades create a circular aperture for smooth bokeh.
The iris ring allows flexible aperture control for adjusting depth of field and provides a smooth torque with no clicking for videographers. The front element doesn’t extend so the lens maintains its centre of gravity through internal zooming. Built-in Optical Image Stabilisation provides up to 5.5 stops of shake correction alone and up to 8.0 stops co-ordinated control with an EOS R series camera with IBIS. Two Nano USMs ensure smooth and accurate autofocusing and make tracking moving subjects easy. Its RRP is AU$5399. Click here for more information.
The features of the RF 24-105mm f/2.8L IS USM Z lens can be taken even further with the newly launched optional power zoom adapters: PZ-E2 and PZ-E2B. They deliver zoom operation and remote control via Canon’s Camera Connect app or EOS Utility. The Power Zoom Adapter PZ-E2B sports a 20-pin zoom/ focus remote connector that allows compatible zoom/ focus demands to be attached for studio or large-scale production environments. It is also compatible with Canon’s Zoom Servo Grip ZSG-C10.
