Designed to meet the needs of photographers who shoot VR content for applications like training, travel, sports, live events and documentaries, the system simplifies the process of stereoscopic 180-degree VR capture and post-production. The RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens is the first interchangeable VR lens to be released by Canon. The two forward-facing fisheye lenses cover a wide 190-degree field of view while producing stereoscopic images. The paired lenses ensure perfect alignment and synchronisation, simplifying VR recording. New Canon-developed EOS VR Utility software and the EOS VR Plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro simplify the content production process, reducing post-production grading and the expertise required to match the left and right image output.

The lens design includes two UD elements per lens to achieve edge-to-edge sharpness, while an SWC coating suppresses ghosting and flare. A gelatin holder across the rear elements enables users to take advantage of third-party gelatin ND filters. The EOS VR System is scheduled for release from December at an RRP of $3849. It will be supported by Canon Australia’s 5-year warranty when purchased from an authorised Canon Australia resellers.
