Following the launch of a trial beta version of the software in June, ACD Systems has released its new standalone Multi-Document Interface (MDI) application, Gemstone.

Gemstone features a layered editor and up-to-date RAW support for more than 500 camera models and includes most of the popular functions provided in ACDSee Photo Studio at a lower MSRP. The MDI interface enables users to have multiple documents open at once and provide a split view showing, for example, before and after adjustments. Full layer support enables users to perform complex adjustments and/or apply effects and return to tweak them at any time. While not providing the same digital asset management facilities, key features from ACDSee Photo Studio Home 2022 have been provided, including:
- Light EQ
- Frequency Separation
- Path text
- Pixel Targeting
- Colour Wheels
- Tone wheels
- Liquify Tool
