Pretec has showcased its first 16GB USB Flash drive, claimed to be the highest capacity thumb drive in the world, at IFA 2006 in Berlin.

September 8, 2006: Pretec has showcased its first 16GB USB Flash drive, claimed to be the highest capacity thumb drive in the world, at IFA 2006 in Berlin.

The capacity of the Pretec 16GB i-Disk II is roughly the equivalent to four DVDs or 23 compact discs, which can store around 5,400 photos in regular size or more than 4,000 MP3 songs. The new drive boasts an access speed up to 25MB/sec and extra features providing data security and convenience such as password protection, data encryption, write protection, and/or auto-execute pre-defined or user-defined files. The company plans to begin mass production towards the end of this year.
