May 10, 2011: Australian Digital Agency, DLSHS, has partnered with the Global Poverty Project USA to launch an online awareness competition in a bid to end extreme poverty under the banner of DollarFiftyADay.com.
Curated by Hollywood celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart, the unique online competition encourages active participation in the ø¢â‚¬ËœLive Below The Line’ challenge, where photographers are asked a pivotal question – what does living below the line mean? Photographers are challenged with the premise – if you were suddenly faced with living on US$1.50 A Day – the reality 1.4 billion people face every day – what would it feel like? Participants in the ‘Live Below the Line’ campaign will pledge to live on a food budget of $1.50 per day, for five days, from May 16 to 20, 2011.
The top 10 photographers will have their work curated by Jeremy Cowart at a special exhibition in New York on May 23rd 2011 as part of a live U-Stream event featuring actress and activist Olivia Wilde, renowned development economist Geoffrey Sachs and Global Poverty Project founder, Hugh Evans. The top three photographers receiving the most Facebook ø¢â‚¬ËœLikes’ will be announced on May 27, 2011 and will go into the running to be featured on US Television in a My Art Spot on Ovation.
