Powerhouse is inviting Expressions of Interest for a major new commission focusing on the relationships between people, the built environment and public spaces of Western Sydney.

Sitting within Powerhouse Photography, an industry-led initiative dedicated to amplifying Australian photography, the commission is looking for emerging or established photographers with strong Western Sydney networks who will work with Powerhouse to engage local community members to participate in the photography and oral history project. The objective is to produce a photographic and oral record of stories, memories and experiences related to these locations. Photographers working in a range of photography disciplines including but not limited to commercial, documentary, portrait, fashion and editorial are invited to apply for this paid commission. Shortlisted applicants will receive a detailed project briefing to develop a proposal that includes their creative approach and budget. The successful applicant will deliver the commission in collaboration with Powerhouse over a minimum period of 12 months in a flexible arrangement that allows the successful applicant to continue their professional practice.
