A photograph by Indian photojournalist, Neha Ganeriwal, has been awarded the inaugural Independent Photographer category in this year’s World Sports Photography Awards.

Neha Ganeriwal has been a photo journalist working in France since 2016. She has worked as a designer in the fashion industry for about 10 years in Milan and was the only Indian female photo journalist to cover the EURO 2016. Her image was chosen as one of ten winners out of more than 800 submissions from independent photographers around the world in the Independent Photography Category of The World Sports Photography Awards, which is sponsored by IMAGO Images.

Now in their fourth year, The World Sports Photography Awards provide global recognition for outstanding sports photography, attracting more than 7,000 submissions each year across more than 30 different sports.
