The winners of the Head On 2021 People’s Choice award winners in the Portrait, Landscape and student categories have been announced.

The 2021 People’s Choice Portrait winner was Ebony Allen-Ankins with an image titled ‘Wish you were here’ (shown above) showing a message sent by a mother to her fourth baby’s father when she was more than 24 hours into a complicated labour and was wishing he was there to hold her hand.

Diana Nicholette Jeon took out the 2021 People’s Choice Landscape award with her image titled ‘Under Construction’ part of a series showing the destruction of the beautiful islands in Hawaii due to an increasing pursuit of income from tourism and over-development.

The 2021 People’s Choice Student award was won by Talia Skuse with an enigmatic image titled ‘ Through her eyes’ shown above. The accompanying explanation states:
Dyslexia is often misunderstood as a disability resulting in negative emotional consequences due to the stigma attached to this condition. Using my passion for photography and my own experience with dyslexia, I have created a composition that invites the audience to view life through my eyes. I use perspective to convey my heightened sense of seeing the world and the emotional consequences of dyslexia, including isolation and negative self-perception.
