The winning entries for this year’s Head On Photo Festival have been announced from a record number of entries submitted by 702 Australian and international photographers.

This year’s competition was fierce, with a record 702 emerging and professional photographers from Australia and across the globe delivering beautiful, eclectic and thought-provoking images. Images from the competition are on display at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach, with artworks featured along the promenade and galleries across Sydney.

David Cossini’s image “Ugandan Ssebabi” (shown above) won the Head On Portrait Award. Runners-up were Julian Kingma “Former MP Jan Wade” (Australian) and Delphine Blast “The Retreat of the Butterflies” (International). Runners-up in the Landscape competition were Barbara Brown “Shanty Town, Swakopmund, Namibia” (Australian) and Francisco Negroni “The image of fear” (International).

Winner of the new Environmental award was Alain Schroeder with ‘Saving orangutans 1’ (shown above). Runners-up were Adam Oswell “Portrait of extinction” (Australian) and Annette LeMay Burke “Fauxliage – Airport approach” (International).

Winner of the Student Awards was Lucia St Leon with “Paper constructs”, with Sienna Lawson-Coffa’s “Mirror” and Isobel Meyer’s “Siblings” in the runners-up positions.
Head On Photo Festival runs from November 10 to December 3. It’s estimated the festival will attract around 400,000 people along Bondi’s promenade alone. For more information visit www.headon.org.au.
