The Ballarat International Foto Biennale is seeking applications for its GradFoto 2023 awards, which provide cash prizes to emerging graduate photographers from selected institutions.
All graduating students from participating institutions in Australia and New Zealand will be eligible to apply. Up to 20 finalists will be shortlisted and have their work exhibited online in the GradFoto 2023 exhibition. Judges will award one cash prize of AU$1,000 to the overall winner. Another finalist will be awarded one cash prize of AU$500 for the People’s Choice Award, as voted by the public throughout the GradFoto 2023 exhibition. The awards offer the following benefits to assist emerging photo artists to launch their careers:
- Inclusion within the GradFoto 2023 online exhibition for finalists
- Exposure to leading artists, curators and directors
- Cash prize of $1,000 for the Winner
- Cash prize of $500 for the People’s Choice winner
Entry is free for all applicants and entries close on Thursday 4 January 2024, 11:59 PM AEDT. Finalists will be contacted on 17 January, 2024 and the online exhibition and winner of the major prize will be announced on 24 January.
