Following the success of the 2021 Sony Film Festival, entries have opened for Sony’s new Catchlight Film Festival celebrating short-form filmmaking shot on Sony cameras.
The competition is open to filmmakers at all levels from across Australia and New Zealand. Its objective is to showcase best short-form filmmaking and the talent and abilities of cinematographers and filmmakers using the Sony system to capture their stories. This year shines a special spotlight on Student filmmakers, with a dedicated Student Fiction category. It also includes categories for Fiction (scripted), Non-Fiction (documentary), Student Fiction and Music Video. Each category-winning film will be awarded with an exclusive experience specific to that category as well as a prize package of Sony digital imaging products, supported by Sony Electronics.
Entries open at 12:00 PM AEDT on Thursday, 17 March 2022 and close for submissions at 11:59 PM AEST on Wednesday, 15 June 2022. Judging will commence on Monday, 20 June 2022, with all finalists notified from Monday, 18 July 2022. Sony will host a night of festivities in late August at a date to be confirmed.
