Awarded images from the renowned annual World Press Photo Contest will be on display in Sydney from 24 May to 6 July and also available to view online from late March.

Each year the World Press Photo Contest attracts entries from thousands of professional press and documentary photographers from over one hundred countries. From these a selection of the most impactful and relevant images is chosen to be shown to millions worldwide as part of World Press Photo’s annual traveling exhibition. This event kicks off in Amsterdam at De Nieuwe Kerk (18 April – 8 August), plus London (31 May – 31 August), Berlin (6 June – 29 June), Vienna (12 September – 9 November), Budapest (10 September – 9 November), Mexico City (18 July – 28 September), Rio de Janeiro (27 May to 20 July), Montreal (27 August – 11 October), Jakarta (12 September – 11 October), Sydney (24 May to 6 July), and Rome (6 May – 8 June). The venue for the Sydney exhibition is the State Library of NSW, which offers free entry.
Millions more will see the winning stories online via www.worldpressphoto.org/]www.worldpressphoto.org and associated social media channels. Winners of this year’s competition will be announced in Amsterdam on 27 March 2025. They will receive a cash prize of up to €11,000, an invitation to the Winners’ Program in Amsterdam from 14-17 May, and more. The Photo of the Year winner and both runners up will also receive Fujifilm GFX cameras and lenses.
