The annual World Press Photo Contest recognises and celebrates the best photojournalism and documentary photography produced over the last year. Entering is free and open to all professional photographers working in the field of photojournalism and/or documentary photography. Prizes include up to €6,000 and inclusion in an annual traveling exhibition plus publication in the World Press Photo Yearbook. Entries for the 2024 World Press Photo Contest will be accepted from 1 December 2023 until the competition closes on 11 January 2024. This will be the third contest in which the organisers have worked with a regional model which focuses on increased visibility and connections with regions around the world that have been historically underrepresented in the annual World Press Photo Contest. They are working with regional partners, Drik Picture Library in Bangladesh and The Market Photo Workshop in South Africa to better connect to local networks.
