Entries to the 2023 World Press Photo Contest, which celebrates this year’s best photojournalism, will open on Thursday, 1 December 2022 and will close on 10 January 2023.
Founded in 1955 by a group of Dutch photographers, the annual competition is free to enter and open to all professional photojournalists and/or documentary photographers. This year, the regional contest model that was launched for the 2022 Contest, will be applied, offering both regional and global awards. The result of the first year of this new strategy gave a much more geographically balanced view of the world, with more nuanced perspectives and a better shared understanding. The contest is judged independently by leaders in documentary photography and photojournalism from each region. The regional and global jury will be announced in December 2022.
