Momento has organised a series of forums, workshops, exhibitions and presentations on producing and printing premium photo books between late May and 8 June.
The events will kick off with a free forum on photo book publishing featuring a panel comprising photographers Doug Spowart and Sam Harris and representatives from publishing companies Kinokuniya , Thames & Hudson Australia, Perimeter Editions and Momento Pro. The discussion will look at local and international trends in photographic book publishing and ways to contribute to shaping its future. It will take place on Wednesday 29 May at The Museum of Sydney between 6:00 and 9:00 pm. Admission is free but bookings are essential. Photographers who want to publish their own books are invited to attend two half-day workshops that will be held at the Momento Pro Showroom, Chippendale on Saturday 1 June from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and Saturday 8 June from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Space is limited to 15 participants so register now. The fee for the course is AU$500.
This workshop is hosted by Stephen Dupont and is designed for photographers interested in self-publishing. Presenters include Christey Johansson and Marcus Piper of Au.Thentic Press, Diana Hill of Murdoch Books, and Sonya Jeffery of Books At Manic. Prior to the second workshop, participants will design and submit a photographic book or pages for a book, that will be printed, ready for critique on 8 Jun.
