September 2, 2007: Phase One has released a trial beta version of its Capture One 4 software, which includes new functions and an improved user interface.
Capture One 4 is a brand new application that retains its predecessors’ toolkit, but improves upon existing features and provides a simplified new user interface that leaves more room for displaying images. The new version also offers workflow improvements and enhanced responsiveness, allowing users to work through large volumes of image files efficiently.
Noteworthy new features include:
– High Dynamic Range processing to enable easy recovery of details in highlights and shadows in images with a high dynamic range.
– Variants, which allow users to experiment with different looks from one RAW image with virtually no disk and performance overhead.
– A Web contact sheet function that lets photographers set up theme-based web contact sheets for sharing work with clients.
– Multiple viewing facilities that display up to 12 images at full resolution simultaneously in the new Viewer.
Capture One 4 will be provided free of charge to purchasers of Capture One 3.7.x LE. To find out more about the features offered in Capture One 4, visit the dedicated new web site at www.phaseone.com/4. The beta version is available now for download free of charge from this site.
