Late October will see the release of Panasonic’s latest Lumix G-series interchangeable-lens camera, the DMC-G85.

Designed to appeal to active outdoor photographers, the G85 is weather-sealed, with a tough
splash and dustproof design protects all joints, dials and buttons against extreme conditions. It features a lightweight magnesium-alloy full diecast front frame and an electromagnetically-driven shutter mechanism that is quiet and reduces shutter-induced vibration. Shutter speeds range from 60 to 1/4000 seconds. Other features include a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor with no Low Pass Filter plus a Venus Engine Processor that minimises moirø©. The G85 also boasts a 2,360,000-dot OLED Live View Finder and a3-inch 1,040,000-dot rear monitor with versatile tilting design.
The G85 will be listed as a body alone for AU$1399 (RRP) or in three kit versions with different lenses. The kit reviewed, with the Lumix G-Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S lens, is priced at AU$1699. The kit with the Lumix G-Vario 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. lens has a local RRP of AU$1499, while the zoom lens kit with 14-140mm lens will sell for AU$1999. An optional accessory battery grip, which contains an additional battery, is priced at AU$399.
