Panasonic has begun developing a Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm lens for the M4/3 system, featuring a constant f/1.7 maximum aperture.

The new 10-25mm wide zoom lens is currently the world’s first zoom with maximum aperture of f/1.7 across the entire zoom range. It covers a focal length range equivalent to 20-50mm in 35mm format and is being developed to support video recording in addition to still imaging. The new lens is described as a ‘workhorse’ lens for the busy professional, spanning situations from documentary interviews to an atmospheric wedding shoot. It features a clickless aperture ring that provides smooth, seamless aperture control. Pricing and availability for the new lens are yet to be announced.

Panasonic has stated its commitment to further expanding the camera and lens lineup for the Micro Four Thirds system. Click here  or call 132 600 for more information.
