Second-generation updates have been announced for the compact M.Zuiko 17mm and 25mm f/1.8 lenses as well as the M.Zuiko 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS telephoto zoom lens.
Now weather-sealed, the new 17mm and 25mm f/1.8 II lenses are compact and fast and accept 46 mm filters. (Source: OM Digital Solutions.)
Designed for everyday use, the M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 II covers an angle of view equivalent to 34mm in 35mm format, making it a modestly wide-angle lens. Weighing only 112 grams, this lens is 8 grams lighter than its predecessor, despite being slightly longer. The M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 II provides a 50mm equivalent focal length but is slightly larger than its predecessor, being 1.6 mm longer and at 156 grams, weighing 19 grams more. The updated 17mm f/1.8 lens has a similar optical configuration to its predecessor, with nine elements arranged in six groups. However, whereas the older lens included two aspherical and one HR elements, the new lens introduces an additional DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lens to improve edge-to-edge sharpness. The optical configuration of the M.Zuiko 25mm f/1.8 II is essentially unchanged.

Both lenses gain new IPX1 dust- and splash-proof sealing, enabling them to be used in a wider range of environments. They also come with LH-49B lens hoods as well as front and rear caps. Optional accessories for these lenses include the PRF-D46 PRO protection filter, MCON-P02 macro converter and LSC-0811 soft lens case.

OM System’s most affordable super telephoto zoom, the M.Zuiko 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS also gains IPX1 dust- and splash-proof protection in the second-generation model, along with a fluorine coating on exposed glass elements that repels moisture and dust and makes it easier to keep the lens clean. The optical configuration of this lens is unchanged from its predecessor but autofocusing is now driven by a Voice Coil Motor instead of the former (and slightly slower) linear motor. Built-in lens IS has been increased from 3EV to 4.5EV steps of shake correction, while Synch IS has been boosted to 7EV to ensure steady performance, even in challenging shooting conditions. The tripod mount is now removable when the lens is attached to a camera, making it easier to use for hand-held shooting. The lens is also marginally longer and five grams heavier.

The current focal length range of 100-400mm is equivalent to 200-800mm in 35mm format. This range can be extended to 280-1120mm with the MC-14 teleconverter or 400-1600mm with the MC-20. Like its predecessor, the new lens is supplied with the LH-76D lens hood plus front and rear caps. Optional accessories include the Zuiko PRF-ZD72 PRO protective filter and the LSC-1127 soft lens case.
All three lenses are scheduled to go on sale on 17 February 2025. The RRP for the 17mm lens is $649, while the 25mm f/1.8 II lenses will be priced at AU$599. The M.Zuiko 100-400mm f/5.0-6.3 IS II has an RRP of $AU$2,199. Click here to visit OM Systems’ local website for full details of all three lenses.
