Olympus has released details of its new 6-megapixel Camedia SP-700 digital camera, which features a 3x optical zoom lens (38-114mm in 35mm format) and large 3-inch HyperCrystal Sunshine LCD.

October 5, 2005: Olympus has released details of its new 6-megapixel Camedia SP-700 digital camera, which features a 3x optical zoom lens (38-114mm in 35mm format) and large 3-inch HyperCrystal Sunshine LCD.
Featuring a compact metal body that’s available in silver or blue, the SP-700 offers 24 scene modes, including an underwater shooting mode to be used in conjunction with the PT-013 underwater case, Red-eye Fix, and Macro or Super Macro Mode for shooting from just 1cm away. Another novel feature is the Compare and Shoot function, which enables users to check and compare results before re-shooting or adjusting settings if necessary. The camera also provides an integrated guide function to help novice users plus multi-shot, Label Shot, Calendar function, 2in1 and panorama (when using an Olympus xD-Picture Card) modes. A histogram display is available in shooting and playback mode and VGA movie clips can be recorded with sound.
On board image editing functions include red-eye fix, brightness and saturation adjustments, trimming and re-saving and B&W and sepia conversion. The camera comes with 11 MB internal memory plus slot for xD-Picture Cards and is PictBridge enabled for direct printing. It is scheduled for worldwide release before Christmas.
