February 13, 2004: PMA 2004 has seen Olympus add an 8-megapixel model to its Camedia C-Series range, launch a cross-over still/video camera with a 4-megapixel sensor and 10x zoom lens and release a new E-series lens.
The new C-8080 Wide Zoom features an 8-megapixel CCD sensor with similar specifications to other recently-released 8-megapixel cameras, an f2.4-3.5 5x optical zoom lens wit a focal length equivalent to 28mm to 140mm on a 35mm camera and an EVF with 240,000 pixels and an image refresh rates of 60fps. Improved data processing supports a release lag time of 0.3 seconds and 1.6 fps continuous shooting at high resolution. The C-8080 boasts a high-rising pop-up flash and adjustable LCD monitor and supports P, A, S and M shooting modes plus a range of focusing options and USB 2.o connectivity. Olympus has extended the lens range for its E-series cameras with the release of the Zuiko Digital ED 150 mm F2.0 lens. This fast tele lens has the equivalent field of view to a 300mm lens on a 35mm camera. It measures 100mm (diameter) x 146mm (length) and weighs 1,350g with tripod adapter.
