January 2002: Olympus Optical Company has announced that it will cease production and sales of the OM-3Ti and OM-4 Ti Black bodies for its OM series of 35 mm single lens reflex cameras. After almost 30 years of successful sales of the OM system and accessories, the company is finding it increasingly difficult to find stable supplies of parts for the camera system, making it impossible to continue to keep the system on the market’.

Olympus will continue to manufacture lenses and accessories, which will be available for current users who wish to purchase them until the end of March 2003.
The OM system kicked off in 1972 with the release of the original OM-1, which received great critical acclaim. Following that success, Olympus developed and sold numerous OM system cameras, lenses and accessories and it plans to use the imaging technologies developed for the OM System during its long years of popularity in new forms in other Olympus imaging products.

Olympus will continue to provide after-sales support the OM System as follows:
Body, lens, flash
Olympus will maintain spare functional parts for approximately 10 years after the end of production. Production has already concluded for some lens and flash products.
Other accessories
Olympus will maintain spare functional parts for other accessories, but time periods differ from part to part. Production has already concluded for some accessory products.

Details will be available from the new Australian distributor, which is expected to be announced shortly. We will update this message as soon as this takes place.
