April 2, 2007: Olympus has released its toughest digicam yet, in the form of the Mju 770SW, which offers underwater shooting to a depth of 10 metres plus additional ruggedisation.
Capable of enduring pressures of up to 100 kg abd shockproof to 1.5 metres, the Mju 770SW can withstand temperatures as low as 10 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for adventure travellers. The camera boasts a 7.1-megapixel (effective) image sensor and 3x optical zoom lens. Its 2.5-inch Hyper-Crystal LCD monitor comes with a 16:9 viewing function for real wide-screen viewing to complement the #Under Water Wide shooting modes in the scene pre-set menu. Twenty-four scene pre-sets are provided, including settings for Night, Cuisine, Fireworks, Documents and Underwater Macro.
Shutter speeds range from ½ to 1/1000 seconds, with the Night Scene mode supporting exposures as long as four seconds. The Shakeproof anti-blur setting uses ISO boosting to ensure shutter speeds are fast enough to minimise camera shake. The Mju 770SW can record video clips with sound at VGA, QVGA and QQVGA resolution with frame rates of 15 fps. It comes with 18MB of internal memory plus an expansion slot for xD Picture cards. Available in silver or blue, the Mju 770SW is on sale now at an RRP of $599. For more information, visit www.olympus.com.au.
