The second generation OM-D entry-level model features Olympus’ 5-Axis In-Built Image Stabilisation, a 2.36 mega-dot OLED viewfinder, and advanced wireless integration.
Aimed at first-time SLR owners, travellers and families, Olympus says the E-M10 Mark II’s in-built 5-Axis stabilisation counteracts camera shake and “encourages compositional creativity as the superb anti-shake enables you to position or hold the camera much more freely than you can with other cameras. With the IS mechanism built into the camera body, every lens used with the new E-M10 Mark II automatically benefits from stabilisation.”
Main features are:
16.1 megapixel LiveMOS sensor
2.36M dot OLED real time viewfinder
5-Axis IBIS (up to -4EV steps performance) using VCM technology
TruePic VII image engine
Tilting 3″ Touchscreen LCD with 1.04M dots resolution
OM-D Movie stabilisation with Full HD 24/25/30/50/60 fps options; CLIPS video mode
8.5 fps burst rate (RAW/Jpeg)
AF Track Pad touchscreen AF point selection
4K resolution time-lapsed movies
Built-in flash (GN8.2/ISO200)
Wi-Fi control and picture transfer with smart devices (Android & iOS using Olympus OI.Share app)
The E-M10 Mark II has a 2.36M dot OLED based real time digital viewfinder. A ‘simulated’ optical viewfinder (S-OVF) setting mimics the visual experience of a traditional SLR camera, using HDR technology to enhance the live view dynamic range to provide a “realistic optical viewfinder experience”.
The Olympus’ ‘OM-D Movie’ full HD recording technology (first used in the E-M5 Mark II) is also available in the E-M10 Mark II. The OM-D Movie setting uses the 5-Axis stabilisation to assist hand-held movies, and a “CLIPS” recording mode makes it easier for you to create short films using time-limited, pre-planned video segments.
The E-M10 Mark II has advanced smartphone integration with the Olympus’ OI. Share app (iOS & Android) which allows you to transfer pictures and videos from your camera to phone and post them to your social media channels. OI. Share gives you the ability to attach picture geotags as well as remotely control (with remote live view) the camera from a distance.
In Australia The OM-D E-M10 Mark II has an RRP (body only) of $799 and will available next month (silver and black options).
