January 7, 2009: Olympus will add two new models to its Mju range of digital compact cameras in early March.
Both the flagship Mju 9000 and the Mju 7000 feature 12-megapixel CCD sensors and both include a new Beauty mode function that brightens human skin by one tone and provides a softer, smoother skin texture. They also come with the latest Olympus TruePic III image processing engine plus zoom lenses that include a Dual Super Aspherical (DSA) lens element.
The Mju 9000 is claimed as the smallest and slimmest of its type and easily pocketable. It will be offered in champagne and black colours and features a 10x optical zoom lens and 2.7-inch high-brightness, wide viewing-angle HyperCrystal III LCD panel. The zoom lens covers a focal length range equivalent to 28-280mm in 35mm format.
The Mju 7000 comes with a 7x optical zoom lens, as well as a 3.0-inch HyperCrystal LCD. Both models include Dual Shakeproof CCD-shift image stabiliser technology, which supports up to four EV steps of shutter speed advantage. Other features include an Intelligent Auto mode, in-camera panorama stitching, Face detect AF/AE technology that can identify up to 16 human faces and a sophisticated 3D GUI. The Mju 9000 is supplied with a Micro SD card adapter, which supports both recording and playback modes.
Pricing for both models has yet to be determined. For more information, visit www.olympus.com.au.
