February 3, 2009: Olympus has released a firmware update for its E-3 digital SLR camera offering some improvements in autofocusing performance and battery life.
The new firmware will allow E-3 users to select the AF target by pressing the arrow keys, improve autofocusing accuracy with fast lenses (f/2 and faster), improve continuous/servo AF performance and provide longer battery life when the camera is used with the HLD-4 battery holder. Because this update will reset all camera settings to factory settings, photographers are advised to record camera settings before updating the firmware.
The new firmware can be updated through Olympus Master software. It can be downloaded from www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/qa/contents/03b/ssoftware10.cfm.
