The new top-of-the-range Olympus compact digicam, the Camedia C-5060 Wide Zoom, is about to be released locally.

 

November 2003: The new top-of-the-range Olympus compact digicam, the Camedia C-5060 Wide Zoom, is about to be released locally.
Featuring a 5.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a 4x optical zoom (27-110mm equivalent) lens, the C-5060 Wide Zoom has a vari-angle monitor and a tough, magnesium alloy body. According to Olympus, the new model is very responsive, with a claimed start-up time of three seconds and shutter lag of 0.4 seconds. High-speed shooting is available at three frames/second in HQ mode.
The new model offers a full suite of user-adjustable controls, including P, A, S, M shooting modes, six scene modes (normal, portrait, night scene, landscape, landscape with portrait, sports) and a dual autofocus system. Dual card slots allow images to be saved to an xD-Picture Card or Compact Flash/Microdrive. Movie recording is supported and the camera is PictBridge compatible, allowing direct printing from the camera.
A hot shoe is provided for accessory flash units and the C-5060 will accept a number of accessory optics that are compatible with its bayonet mount conversion lens system and direct filter mount.
