March 3, 2011: Olympus Imaging Australia has today announced three new compact cameras, the Olympus TG-810, Olympus SZ-20 and Olympus SZ-30MR.
The TG-810 combines Olympus’ tough technology in a highly sophisticated digital compact with all the latest technology such as GPS, Electronic Compass and 3D shooting capability. The TG-810 offers geo-tagging functionality with a built-in GPS unit and Electronic Compass that records the location data of user’s pictures, and is Wi-Fi compatib le with optional Eye Fi Cards.
A live display can also instantly show the name of landmarks being photographed and automatically records country and region data, enabling easy picture management and picture review via geographic locations. To combat difficult outdoor shooting conditions, the TG-810 provides a specially reinforced 3-inch, 920K HyperCrystal III LCD screen offering superior visibility in bright sunshine which features a tap control function. This allows the camera’s key functions to be used, even with thick gloves in the cold. Photographs and movies can be enhanced by Olympus’ Magic Filters, including Watercolour, Punk, Sparkle, Pinhole and Fisheye (to name a few).
The TG-810 automatically detects when it is being used underwater and automatically activates the i-Underwater Snapshot mode, which optimises colour and white balance settings for the underwater photography. To prevent taking the camera beyond 10m, a built in pressure sensor provides a warning when the water depth gets close to 10m. A metal lens barrier will also protect the camera when not in use and a special water-repellent coating ensures clear photographs as well as easy care and maintenance when the camera leaves the water.
OlympusSZ20
The SZ-20 is a super-slim ultra-zoom compact camera with a 16-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor. Featuring a 12.5x, 24-300mm wide-angle zoom lens, 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD display and 1080p HD video recording, the SZ-20 is the perfect all-in-one compact for travel, outdoor and sports enthusiasts.
Automatic in-camera stitching allows up to 360 degree vertical and horizontal panoramas to be created quickly and simply with a simple sweep motion and the SZ-20 enables rapid 15 frames per second shooting at 5 megapixel resolution; or an incredible 3 frames per second at full 16 megapixel resolution
Starlight shooting mode allows photographers to capture brilliant night scenes easily without a tripod. This dedicated mode takes four pictures in a quick burst and synthesises them to give crisp night scene pictures with minimal noise.
With new 3D technology, photographers can now recreate dynamic 3D scenes in any mode from macro to landscape. Simply select the 3D Photo shooting mode, release the shutter for your first shot and slowly pan until the camera automatically takes a second image from a slightly different perspective. The 3D photo is created as an .MPO file, the universal industry 3D format, for easy display on 3D televisions or laptops.
The SZ-20 is compatible with optional Eye-Fi SD cards, adding Wi-Fi capability so you can automatically upload images to your computer and social media profiles as you take them.
Intelligent Auto Mode automatically identifies what you are shooting (i.e., Portrait, Night + Portrait, Landscape, Macro or Sports) and adjusts the camera’s settings to capture the best quality results. The SZ-30MR boasts a massive 24x 25-600mm wide-angle zoom lens, a 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD screen and 1080p HD video recording in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format.
