Featuring a 12-megapixel 1/1.7-type (7.6 x 5.7 mm) back-lit CMOS sensor and TruePic image processor, the Stylus 1 comes with a 10.7x optical i.ZUIKO DIGITAL zoom lens that covers the equivalent of 28-300mm in 35mm format and has a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture. A large electronic viewfinder (EVF) provides the highest magnification factor in its class and similar viewing quality to the OM-D cameras. The new camera provides an advanced range of controls with a hybrid control lens ring and a side mounted zoom lever. Users can customise multiple buttons for a shooting experience like that of an Interchangeable Lens Camera.

Built-in Wi-Fi functionality makes it easy to connect the camera with smart devices via the Olympus Image Share App (OI.Share) for iOS and Android. Using OI.Share’s simple connection function, initial settings can be easily completed simply by scanning the QR code that appears on the camera’s screen. The Stylus 1 provides 11 Art Filters and 5 Art Effects, which can be used with still photos and movies. High -sensitivity shooting is supported to ISO 12800 and the camera includes a built-in ND filter for controlling exposure in three steps. This enables users to record de-focused backgrounds in bright conditions. i-Enhance enables the automatic detection of subjects for optimal colour and contrast reproduction.

The Stylus 1 also includes a Bulb setting that supports exposures of up to 30 minutes as well as a variable self timer function with customisable options such as the number of shots, duration and shooting interval.
Optional accessories include a snapshot style leather camera case (CSCH-118) and 1.7x tele-converter (TCON-17X) and CLA-13 converter adapter. The Olympus Stylus 1 will be available in black from December 2013. Recommended retail price of the camera and accessories is to be announced. Details can be found at www.olympus.com.au.
