December 14, 2011: Olympus has released details of a new video-optimised standard wide-angle zoom lens for PEN & Micro Four Thirds compact system cameras that will go on sale in mid-January 2012.
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-50mm f/3.5-6.3 EZ lens has a motorised zoom mechanism that ensures smooth and constant-speed zooming. The optical design consists of 10 elements in nine groups and includes Dual Super Aspherical, Aspherical (x2), HR and ED elements. The closest focusing distance is 35 cm and the maximum magnification is 0.35x. The new lens accepts 52 mm filters and weighs only 211 grams. It will be offered in black and silver. Pricing is yet to be announced. For more information, visit www.olympus.com.au.
