January 10, 2007: The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was chosen by Nokia to announce a new mobile phone with video, computer and multimedia capabilities.
The new Nokia N93i boasts a new metallic finish keymat and a mirror effect cover. Featuring a “twist, shoot and view” form factor with large rotatable 2.4-inch high resolution QVGA colour display with a 160 degree viewing angle, it comes with a 3.2 megapixel (2048 x 1536 pixels) camera with Carl Zeiss optics, a 3x optical zoom lens, autofocusing and a close-up mode. Users can shoot MPEG-4 VGA video clips at 30 frames per second and record stereo audio. Digital stabilisation is also provided. The 1 GB miniSD card included in the standard Nokia N93i sales pack can store up to 45 minutes of DVD- quality video or up to 1250 high-quality photos.
The easy-to-use joystick provides smooth video control and there are dedicated camera keys to capture images, switch shooting mode and operate the flash quickly and easily. Built-in photo and video editing functions are provided and the N93i supports Easy sharing of images and video via TV out, MMS, email, Bluetooth wireless technology, video call and video sharing. Files can also be transferred via WLAN/UPnP and USB and the N93i is PictBridge enabled for direct printing. A digital music player and equaliser is also included with support for all popular file formats. There’s also a stereo FM radio with support for Visual Radio.
The Nokia N93i supports Vox, the personal video and photo blogging service from Six Apart. Bundled software includes Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 software. The Nokia N93i, which is based on S60 3rd Edition software on Symbian OS, is expected to start shipping in volumes during the first quarter of 2007.
