Three new Coolpix digicams, the Coolpix P7000, Coolpix S8100 and Coolpix S80, will go on sale in retail stores this month.

September 8, 2010: Three new Coolpix digicams, the Coolpix P7000, Coolpix S8100 and Coolpix S80, will go on sale in retail stores this month.
The Coolpix P7000 replaces the P6000 as the flagship model and offers 10-megapixel (effective) resolution plus a 8-200mm (equivalent) f/2.8-5.6 lens with lens-shift stabilisation. Like its predecessor, the P7000 boasts an advanced suite of user-adjustable controls and includes raw file capture (NRW.RAW again) and a 3-inch LCD monitor with 921K-dot resolution. An optical viewfinder is also provided. The P7000 can record HD video at 720p resolution/24 fps and has an in jack for an accessory microphone. It supports a modest 1.3 frames/second burst mode and its battery is CIPA rated for approximately 350 shots/charge. It will carry an RRP of $699.

The Coolpix S8100 boasts a 12-megapixel, 6.16 x 4.32 mm backside illumination CMOS sensor plus a 10x optical zoom lens. The zoom range is equivalent to 30-300mm in 35mm format and lens-shift image stabilisation is provided. Replacing the S8000, it provided improvements to its predecessor’s functionality and comes with an array of scene modes, face detection AF, a 10fps burst mode and 1080p video recording. Its EN-EL12 battery is CIPA-rated at 220 shots/charge. RRP will be $499.

The stylish Coolpix S80, will be offered in Black, Silver and Pink. With an effective pixel count of 14.1 megapixels and a a 5x optical zoom Nikkor lens, this model boasts a 3.5-inch OLED widescreen monitor with touch controls and approximately 819K-dot resolution. The body of this camera is only 16.5mm thick and its design has been simplified for ease of use. Videos can be recorded in 720p HD resolution with stereo soundtracks. This model will be priced at $499.
