June 15, 2006: Entries to the 31st Nikon Photo Contest International will be accepted from September 1 to November 30, 2006.
The contest’s stated aim is “to provide an opportunity for photographers around the world to communicate and to enrich photographic culture for professionals and amateurs alike”. Over the years it has attracted more than 1,220,000 images from a total of 290,000 photographers. The Nikon Photo Contest International is open to all photographers, professional or amateur, from any part of the world. The theme of this year’s contest is “At the heart of the image” and organisers are seeking images that are “true to the photographer’s heart”. Images may be sumbitted in either of two categories: Free subject or “Smile, Smile, Smile!”.
Entries may be submitted in print form in a size between 19 x 24 cm and 28 x 36 cm and sent by mail or emailed as JPEGs and compressed to under 3MB size. Each photographer may submit up to two images per category (a maximum of four photographs). Only the first 20,000 JPEG images will be accepted. A total of 53 winners will receive Nikon imaging products as prizes, with winners of the Grand Prize, Emerging Talent Award and runners up being offered an opportunity to submit works in addition to their winning works for exhibition on the Nikon Photo Contest International Web site.
