Nikon has added two new models, the A100 and A10, to its Coolpix line-up.

Designed primarily for snapshooters, the new cameras feature new and enhanced special effects. The Coolpix A100 has a 5x optical zoom lens plus a 10x Dynamic Fine Zoom function for shooting close-ups. It has an effective resolution of 20.1 megapixels and supports HD movie recording at 720p resolution. Other features include Target Finding autofocus with face detection and subject prediction technology and a Scene Auto Selector that can access 15 pre-sets. Eight Special Effects can be added to pictures during shooting, and the camera includes anew user-friendly Glamour Retouch creative slider. The Coolpix A100 measures only 94.5(W) x 58.6(H) x 19.8(D) mm and boasts a battery capacity of approximately 250 shots. It will be offered in Silver, Black and Purple.

The Coolpix A10 has a CCD sensor with an effective resolution of 16.1 megapixels and a 5x optical zoom lens. Like the A100m it supports 720p HD movie recording and comes with Special Effects like ‘Nostalgia Sepia’ and a new ‘Mirror’ option for use during shooting plus post-capture Quick Effects such as fisheye and toy camera. The A10 is powered by readily-available AA-size batteries. It measures 96.4(W) x 59.4(H) x 28.9 (D) mm and is offered in Red and Black.
