Nikon will release three new Coolpix point-and-shoot cameras, the Coolpix S3700, S2900 and L31, in the next couple of weeks.

Offered in silver, red and black, the Coolpix S3700 has a resolution of 20.1 megapixels and an 8x optical zoom lens, which covers the equivalent of 25mm to 200mm in 35mm-format. The zoom range can be extended with 16x Dynamic Fine Zoom. This camera also features Nikon’s EXPEED C2 image-processing engine, a combination of lens shift Vibration Reduction (VR) and a 4-axis Hybrid Vibration Reduction system, which is effective for reducing shake while recording movie clips. Built-in Wi-Fi and NFC make it easy to share images via compatible smart devices and enable remote shooting from a smart device. The 20.1-megapixel Coolpix S2900 boasts a slim body, measuring 94.5 (W) x 58.6 (H) x 19.8 (D) mm, and weighing only 119 grams. Available in purple, silver and black, it features lots of smart automatic shooting functions alongside an 5x optical zoom lens plus 10x Dynamic Fine Zoom. Target Finding autofocus can detect a subject quickly and focus upon it as well as re-focusing when the subject moves. The built-in Scene Auto Selector automatically selects the most appropriate scene mode from 15 options. The Coolpix S2900 is scheduled for release on 29 January with pricing at dealers’ discretion. Nikon’s entry-level snapshooter’s camera, the 16.1-megapixel Coolpix L31, features a 5x optical zoom lens (26-130mm in 35mm format) plus a blur-reduction function and Nikon’s Scene Auto Selector mode. Users can record movie clips with 720p HD resolution by simply pressing the dedicated Movie-record button. Measuring 96.4 (W) x 59.4 (H) x 28.9 (D) mm and weighing only 160 grams including two AA-size alkaline batteries and SD card, it will be offered in red and black and goes on sale on 29 January.
