March 23, 2006: Three new Tamron Digitally Integrated lenses with mounts to suit popular DSLR camera brands will be added to Maxwell Optical Industries’ offerings in June and July.

Designed to deliver optimum performance on digital SLR cameras, the new lenses cover several popular focal length ranges and features improved designs and performance. The new SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF] is a fast standard zoom lens designed exclusively for digital SLR cameras. The designers have used XR (Extra Refractive Index) and LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements plus two hybrid aspherical elements to produce a lightweight, compact zoom lens with excellent performance. Covering a focal length range equivalent to 26-78mm in 35mm format, it has a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture and minimum focusing distance of 27 cm across the entire zoom range. With a maximum magnification ratio of 1:4.5 at 50mm, it is ideal for close-up work. Due for release in June, it is expected to sell for $729.

Tamron’s AF28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical [IF] Macro lens is a second-generation optic that builds on the success of the current AF28-200mm Super XR model.

Featuring the Di optical system plus improved multi-coating (including Internal Surface Coatings) to minimise ghosting and flare, it can be used with digital SLR cameras as well as film cameras. The new lens retains the compact size of the previous model and offers a 7x magnification power is now available when used with digital SLR cameras. Due for release in June, its RRP is $529.

The new Tamron AF70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 is also an upgrade to a popular lens and features Di optics that can be used for film and digital SLR cameras. Compact and lightweight, it offers a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2 at a minimum focus distance as short as 95cm. Weighing only 435 grams, it consists of 13 elements in 9 groups and has an overall length of 116.5 mm. It is scheduled for release in July at an RRP of $329.
