June 27, 2008: VisibleDust has released improved versions of its popular Arctic Butterfly and sensor cleaning swab products.
The new Arctic Butterfly 724 (Brite) now includes a bright LED that illuminates the sensor while the device is being used. This makes the cleaning process ore controllable and being dragged accidentally against the surrounding cavity. It also makes it easier to locate dust spots on the camera’s sensor. The device’s DC rotary engine has been modified to generate an optimal centrifugal force that enables speedy dust rejection while increasing the charge enhancement of the fibres.
VisibleDust’s new Vswab swabs for removing welded-on dust from image sensors has also been improved to better suit the next generation of narrower chamber cameras, such as Nikon D3. Designed for cameras with ‘full frame’ sensors, it has a smaller edge, which reduces contact between the swab fabric and the chamber wall. This prevents dust and lint on the inside from falling onto the sensor during cleaning. It is also more easily moved within the sensor chamber and the V shape design also provides better visibility of the sensor when cleaning.
