April 9, 2008: Borge’s Imaging has added a new range of ringflash adapters from Short Images to its product portfolio.
Designed to fit both Canon and Nikon on-camera flash units, these clever accessories use a novel system of internal prisms, reflectors and light-shapers to distribute the light emitted from the flash unit evenly around the large diameter adapter that encircles the lens. This adapter is made from plastic and is light and portable. It contains no electronics, no flashtubes and no cumbersome cables and is easily mounted to the front of a portable flash unit.

Because all light originates from the front (from around the lens), it produces almost shadowless lighting, with only a soft, even shadow appearing around subject edges. The ringflash adapter does not change the colour temperature of the flash unit. The new adapters are suitable for portraiture, fashion work, macro photography and in medical environments. They will work with all lenses and support all camera flash modes.
The first unit available will be for the Nikon SB800. It has an RRP of $349 and is scheduled for release this month. Availability of the ringflash adapter for Canon models is to be confirmed. For more information, visit www.borge.com.au.
