Nikon has announced that addition of three new models to its Coolpix line-up and unveiled a new AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR, a 5x telephoto zoom lens for FX format DSLRs.

The highlight of the new announcements is the Coolpix A, which features a 16.2 megapixel DX CMOS sensor combined with an 18.5mm  f/2.8 Nikkor lens that covers an angle of view equivalent to a 28mm in 35mm format. The lens has a focusing ring that allows SLR-like focusing.The sensor unit is designed without an optical low-pass filter to deliver maximum image detail. The camera also sports an EXPEED 2 image-processing engine and is capable of Full HD (1080p) movie recording. The COOLPIX A also supports a variety of dedicated accessories, including the WU-1a wireless adapter, which enables live view, remote shooting and wireless transfer of images to smart devices.   It is scheduled for release at the end of March. Released at the same time will be two new Coolpix digicams: the 12.2-megapixel P330, which has a 1/1.7-inch (7.6 x 5.7 mm) backside illuminated CMOS sensor, 5x optical zoom lens, P, S, A & M exposure modes plus “U” (User setting)  and a built-in GPS receiver plus an onboard database of approximately 1.86 million  POI  (Points of Interest). The new AF-S Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR lens has been designed for DSLR cameras with Nikon FX format sensors but can also be used with Nikon’s DX format DSLRs, where it provides a zoom range equivalent to 120 x 600mm. Due to go on sale in April,   this lens features internal focusing controlled by Silent Wave Motor plus a separate focus ring for manual focus.
