August 19 2009: With the release in October of the PowerShot G11 and ultra-light PowerShot S90, camera buyers will have two models with advanced features and raw file capture to choose from.
Canon has reduced the resolution of the new PowerShot G11, which replaces the popular 14-megapixel G10 model, to a sensible 10 megapixels and coupled the new, high-sensitivity CCD chip with the DiG!C 4 image processor. Together they promise improved low-light capability with reduced image noise and blurring. Also new on the G11 is a 2.8-inch vari-angle, high resolution LCD screen with approximately 461,000 dots. The lens is the same 5x optical zoom lens (28-140mm in 35mm format) as in the G10.

With the PowerShot S90, users can enjoy a full range of features, including raw file capture, in a lightweight camera small enough to fit in a pocket. Equipped with a 10-megapixel, high sensitivity CCD sensor, fast 3.8x optical zoom lens (28-105mm in 35mm format) and 3-inch LCD screen with approximately 461,000 dots, the S90 weighs only 175 grams.

Both models include Canon’s DiG!C 4 image processor and TruCapture technologies and both come with a dedicated Low Light shooting mode and Dual Anti-Noise system.
