Featuring a 16-megapixel LIVE MOS image sensor, Venus Engine image processor and the Light Speed AF system, the new camera is highly responsive and ready to shoot just 0.5 sec after start-up. A new Low Light AF function enables more accurate focusing in low-lit situations and the 3-inch, tiltable touch screen makes the camera quick and easy to operate. The GF6 also comes with a built-in flash  with a GN of 6.3 (ISO160/m) and supports sensitivity settings up to ISO 3200 (Auto mode) or ISO 25600 (Extended). Noise control has been expanded to cover an area approximately 64x larger than the previous model’s and Multi-Process Noise Reduction works in two separate steps, allowing even finer control over noise levels. A Detail Reproduction Filter Process enhances the resolution by up to 3% and middle to high range contrast by up to 5%. The Advanced Intelligent D-range Control covers a wider dynamic range while maintaining smooth gradation.

High-speed Light Speed AF captures fast-moving subjects clearly, and AF Tracking provides consecutive shooting, capturing moving subjects in sharp focus. Full-area Touch AF lets users focus on any point in the field of view, while Touch AE (Auto Exposure) allows focus and exposure to be set at a single touch on the subject displayed on the monitor. The latest creative features include Self Shot, Creative Panorama and Stop Motion Animation, in addition to the popular Creative Control mode which now offers a total of 19 filter effects.

Wi-Fi connectivity (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n) with NFC (Near Field Communication) technology allows users to connect the camera to their smart-phone/tablet at a touch, and still and movie shooting can be controlled remotely from the smart-phone screen.   Setup is extremely quick and easy. The DMC-GF6 records movies in Full HD 1920 x 1080 50i AVCHD and a dedicated video recording button on the top provides instant access to starting and stopping recordings.

The LUMIX DMC-GF6 will be available in Australia in July.   Pricing will be announced closer to the release date.
