August 31, 2010: Olympus will release two new telephoto zoom lenses for its PEN System cameras towards the end of this year.
Scheduled to go on sale in November, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 75-300mm F4.8-6.7 lens is a compact super telephoto zoom lens that covers a focal length range equivalent to 150-600mm on a 35mm film camera. It features professional grade Olympus Super Extra-low Dispersion (Super ED) and Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lens elements for optimum imaging performance. These exotic elements also reduce the weight of the lens to only 430 grams.

The internal focusing mechanism uses a light-weight, single-element unit to enable fast and quiet autofocusing as well as smooth focus-tracking for still-image shooting and HD video capture.
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 lens will be released in December. Weighing only 190 grams, it covers a focal length range equivalent to an 80-300mm lens in 35mm film format. Compact enough to enable handheld shooting at full zoom extension, this lens includes one Extra-low Dispersion (ED) lens to minimise chromatic aberration. The rear focusing mechanism uses only two lens elements to enable fast, quiet autofocusing for smooth still-image and movie shooting.

This lens is ideal for intermediate range telephoto photography and movie recording for portraiture, landscape, nature, travel and sports applications when used with Olympus PEN and other Micro Four Thirds type cameras.
Both lenses feature multi-coating on all lens elements to ensure maximum light transmission and image clarity, with minimal ghosting and flaring in backlit situations. The iris diaphragm in each lens closes to a circular aperture that provides smooth bokeh. Full details of each lens can be found at www.olympus.com.au.
