February 23, 2006: Nikon has announced two new software packages soon to be available: Nikon Capture NX digital image editing software and Nikon View Pro Imaging Software. Nikon Capture NX digital image editing software is designed for professional image makers and serious amateur photographers. Evolving from previously released Nikon Capture 4 software, this next generation release features Nikon’s patented U Pointø¢”ž ¢ technology that gives digital photographers more powerful creative tools, complimented by simple and visual operation, to explore the full potential of NEF, JPEG and TIFF image files. Capture NX works with any digital camera that produces JPEG and TIFF files. Some Capture NX functions apply to NEF files only. It is scheduled to be released in May 2006. Price is not yet available. Nikon View Pro Imaging Software is a follow-on to the Nikon View software. It is designed to make viewing and handling of large quantities of images faster and more productive. The Nikon View Pro has an enhanced image display, faster browsing of NEF RAW files, and easy editing of IPTC information. It can also be used to assist in organising and storing images, and can add IPTC data to individual images and batches of images. Nikon View Pro incorporates five display modes: Thumbnail Mode, Single Image Display Mode, Multi Image Display Mode (Vertical), Multi Image Display Mode (Horizontal), and Full Screen Display Mode.
