January 10, 2005: Minox, which has long been famous for its ultra-compact ‘spy cameras’, has released a new 5-megapixel digicam, the DC 5222.
Featuring a credit-card-sized stainless steel body and Minoctar 3x optical zoom lens the DC 5222 sports a large 2.5-inch LCD monitor. The camera body measures 88.5 x 24 x 54.5 mm and weighs only 130 grams (without battery and card). Four still image sizes are supported, with three levels of JPEG compression selectable. Movie clips can be recorded with sound at VGA or QVGA resolution and voice notes can be added to any still picture. The lens will focus to 6 cm in Macro mode and up to 4x digital zoom is available in capture mode with 2x and 4x zoom playback. Adjustments can be made to white balance, ISO, flash and self-timer settings and exposure compensation of +/-2.0 EV is available in 1/3EV steps.
The Minox DC 5222 is supplied with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and charger, USB and video cables and a 32 MB Secure Digital card.
