December 6, 2005: Baltronics will release some exciting new Leaf Aptus medium format digital camera backs in the coming months.
The Leaf Aptus 75 digital back sports a 33.3-megapixel, 36 x 48mm full frame CCD sensor that delivers a top image size of 5040 x 6726 pixels. A photosite area of 7.2 microns gives the Aptus a 12-stop dynamic range, which coupled with its 16-bit colour depth give the photographs sharp, rich detail, colour fidelity and a film-like quality. ISO equivalent sensitivities of 50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 are supported, along with burst rates up to 1.85 seconds per frame. The Aptus 75 back has a 6 x 7cm LCD with an advanced touch-screen interface (36 options) and User Wheel for accessing key functions. Storage options include CF card, 20 or 30MB Digital Magazine, FireWire disk or computer hard disk, allowing the back to be used both on location and in a studio.
The Aptus 65 digital back offers most of the features of the Aptus 75, but has a slightly smaller 28-megapixel sensor (4622 x 6144 pixels). Currently it is available at a very special price ($28,900) as part of a package with the Mamiya 645AFD camera. Both of the new Aptus backs are compatible with most medium and large format cameras including the Sinar, Toyo, Horseman, and selected models from Rollei X-Act, Hasselblad H1 and V Series, Mamiya, Contax, Fuji and Bronica.
Both backs also share Leaf’s new Leaf Capture 10 software and are compatible with Photoshop CS for processing Leaf uncompressed RAW files. The Leaf Aptus 75 will be available for delivery in January, 2006, with the Aptus 65 following later in the first quarter. Demonstrations of both backs and the Mamiya 645AFD II camera can be arranged by phoning Baltronics on 02 0429 6800 (Sydney) or 03 9427 7440 (Melbourne).
