September 22, 2010: Three new lenses will be added to Panasonic’s Lumix G Micro System in the third quarter of this year.
Claimed as the world’s lightest interchangeable single focal length lens, the Lumix G 14 mm f/2.5 ASPH. features a 14mm (28mm equivalent in 35mm format) wide angle lens with sharp, high contrast image rendering. Comprising six lenses in five groups -including three aspherical lenses – the lens system is compact in size with an overall length of 20.5mm and high optical performance. The integrated stepping motor and inner focus drive system facilitates fast and silent contrast-based autofocusing.
The new Lumix G VARIO 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 MEGA O.I.S. telephoto zoom lens has a compact and lightweight profile. At full tele extension it covers the equivalent of a 600mm lens in 35mm format and includes Panasonic’s MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabiliser) to minimise the effects of camera shake. The lens unit has 17 elements in 12 groups including an ED lens to minimise chromatic aberration. The integrated stepping motor with exclusive zoom tracking control system and inner focus drive system allows accurate and high speed contrast AF, while maintaining quiet operation.
The Lumix G 12.5mm F12 (H-FT012) is the first interchangeable 3D lens to be released for G series cameras. Covering the equivalent field of view of a 65mm in 35mm format, it features two optical systems installed within the diameter of the lens mount. Stereo images from the left and right lenses are processed in the camera with a 3D image processing system. It produces 3D images without distortion or time lag between left and right images, even for moving objects. The 3D images, even close-up shots, taken with this lens offer enjoyable viewing on 3D televisions such as the Panasonic VIERA 3D TV range.

Australian availability and pricing for the lenses will be announced later in 2010. Panasonic has announced new firmware for the interchangeable lens Lumix G VARIO HD 14-140mm f/4.0-5.8 ASPH. MEGA O.I.S. (H-VS014140) and the Lumix DMC-G2 Lumix G Micro System camera to be released at the beginning of October. The included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 5.0 HD Edition will also be updated in November For details visit www.panasonic.com.au or phone Panasonic on 132 600.
